The “gods”

At length they gradually deviated into a taste for those luxuries which stimulate to vice; porticos, and baths, and the elegancies of the table; and this, from their inexperience, they termed politeness, whilst, in reality, it constituted a part of their slavery.

Tacitus, Agricola & Germania

They pretend to be powerful because they are slaves, not because they hold any true power. They have always been this way. They want you to love, not your slavery, but theirs. They desire to enslave you to their master, which we all know is in the 9th Circle of Dante’s Hell, and they will sacrifice anything to achieve it. That is the true nature of the “gods”, theoi. the ones who desire worship, control, and your first born.
